High School Reunion

High School Reunion

For some it is fun,
to see your once peers;
for others it’s heartbreaking,
to find how the years,
have taken the love,
you once upon cherished;
and left you now feeling,
lonely and disparaged!

Remember the heart,
is easily tweaked;
so be careful to never,
feel or to speak;
because words can be hurtful,
to yourself you must keep,
the memories of youth,
and the love you once held deep.

Fifty Years! – by Chris Peterson

Fifty years!! Where did the time go?

Since I cannot make it to Boise for the reunion, I look forward to seeing the reunion book with updates on everyone. My best memories at Bishop Kelly are Sister Elizabeth Marie and drill team.

I am still living in San Diego, California. My 22 year marriage was dissolved in 2007, a year later I lost my mother to lung cancer (my dad passed away from lung cancer 10 years earlier), and in 2009 I started the retirement phase of my life after a successful career at the University of California, San Diego.

In January 2009 I started volunteering as a naturalist and docent with the Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography which is part of UC San Diego. I found myself fulfilling a seventh grade dream of becoming an oceanographer. The Birch has trained me to do all kinds of fascinating things; my favorite is leading whale watching cruises out of San Diego Bay during the winter months. I also enjoy teaching (adults and children) about the wonders and facts of the ocean.

My daughter Catherine (Cate) graduated from San Francisco State University in 2014 with a degree in marine biology, and now works at the Aquarium of the Bay inSan Francisco. All those afternoon visits to the Birch when she was in high school helped her to make her career choice.

I’m still involved in music with my church, St. Therese of Carmel. I share this music ministry with my best friend and companion, Larry. I am also leaving next week on a concert tour of Spain with the La Jolla Symphony Chorus; our last trip since our director is retiring. I’ve also traveled to Ireland and Carnegie Hall (yes, we sang there).

Blessings to all of you,

Christine (aka Chris)

I wasn’t at the 1985 Reunion

I wasn’t at the 1985 Reunion

… unfortunately. I would have loved it especially because it was at Susie’s house. I seldom just hang out there but loved it when they did happen. The Clifford family were always so gracious and willing to bless their children and friends at every possible opportunity.
